Lyu Zhou – Safeguarding the cultural value of Beijing's Central Axis

The Central Axis of Beijing, which runs from the Drum Tower and Bell Tower in the North to Yongding Gate in the South, is a unique asset of Beijing. Lyu Zhou, the director of the National Heritage Center at Tsinghua University, along with his team, is working on the application for the Central Axis to be included in the World Heritage List. He has seen a growing interest in the application process among citizens in Beijing and their increasing willingness to protect the old city.
