Public art initiatives strive to revitalize rural areas in Guizhou

The southeastern region of Guizhou province is inhabited by several ethnic groups, including the Dong, Miao, Shui, Yao and others, whose rich history and diverse arts culture have been passed on by a variety of works of arts and crafts. Meanwhile, the picturesque area was marred by remoteness, transportation inconvenience and poverty.

Efforts have been made throughout the decades to help lift the beautiful towns and villages out of destitution by developing infrastructure, tourism and creativity industry based on its brilliant folk arts.
