17th Changchun Film Festival rolls out

The 17th Changchun Film Festival kicked off on Tuesday in Changchun, Jilin province.

A series of activities will be held during the six-day event, including film awards, forums, screenings, classic and old film reviews and new film releases.

The festival's organizing committee will give 10 different Golden Dear Awards, the event's top honors — best film, best actor and actress and other categories, said Ming Zhenjiang, the head of the committee.

"The event will further enrich its brand and help promote the city's innovative development of the film and tourism industries," Ming said during the opening ceremony. "It will also help attract more global high-quality film and television resources to Changchun and accelerate the rapid development of Changchun's economy.
