Located 10 kilometers west of Turpan, the Jiaohe Ancient City Ruins are the largest, oldest and best-preserved earthen architectural site in the world, which holds great political, cultural, historical and artistic value.

In 1961, the Ruins were selected as one of the first national key cultural relics' protection units. In 1972, in response to the government's recruitment, Guli's grandfather became the only onsite conservator in Jiaohe. Since then, as long as 18 years, with the help and support of his family, her grandfather undertook the daily management of Jiao Ancient City Ruins, including ticket sales, ensuring the safety of tourists and conducting overall inspections around the site every two days.
