Giant puppetry in northern Sichuan province has a long history - more than 300 years – of using flexible shapes and vivid figures, resembling real people. The puppets can perform lively and meticulous movements. They can get dressed or undressed and even use swords or play musical instruments. The giant puppet show in Sichuan was listed as a national-level intangible cultural heritage in 2006.
The puppet show titled "Silk Road and Camel Bells" tells a story about pursuing dreams while on the ancient Silk Road. The general, Tang Hao, guarding the ancient Guo state, hopes to bring the silk from his hometown to the world; Alice, a Romanian princess, dreams to explore the mysterious Orient; while the white crane desires to take a look at the vast ocean. They unite together and strive to make their dreams a reality.
