Around five decades after martial arts icon Bruce Lee passed away, an upcoming movie, Enter the Girl Dragon, inspired by Bruce’s last blockbuster, has Chinese and Indian filmmakers joining together to pay tribute to his legacy.
Ladki: Enter the Girl Dragon, scheduled to open domestically and in India this summer, is the first such Sino-Indian coproduction to be shot from a heroine's perspective.
Since the two countries signed a movie agreement in 2013, they have coproduced two blockbusters: Kung Fu Yoga, starring Jackie Chan, and Buddies in India, casting Wang Baoqiang. Both films are about exotic adventures led by predominantly male characters.
Co-helmed by Chinese director Liu Jing and Indian filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, the film follows an Indian woman's journey to learn kung fu after witnessing her elder sister being sexually assaulted and murdered.
