More than 200 teachers and students from Beijing International Studies University volunteered to provide services in transportation, interpretion, media operation, management of the Paralympic Village and other aspects during the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Games.
BISU's volunteer team worked in 22 hotels and facilities of the Games, including the National Alpine Skiing Center and the Paralympic Village in Yanqing district, Beijing. They disinfected sports venues early in the morning, helped athletes put on protective gear, cheered for them during the competitions and prepared cakes for those Paralympians who had their birthdays during the Games.
They also sent gifts, such as paper-cutting works and embroidered handicrafts, to foreign athletes. Their efforts to ensure the smooth running of Paralympians' trainings and competitions on a daily basis have touched many foreign athletes.
The volunteers from the university used their language skills to support the Paralympic Games by offering language services in English, French, Russian, German and ten other languages.
