"Hongbin silk painting is a craftsmanship using cotton to express art," said Yuan Hongbin, an inheritor of the age-old craft who has been working in this industry for nearly 40 years.
Hongbin silk painting, a specialty in Ma'anshan in East China's Anhui province, involves both painting and craftsmanship. From portrays of animals and landscapes to human figures, it creates three-dimensional paintings.
This traditional art also pays special attention to the use of color. The cotton materials need to undergo a complex high-temperature dyeing process before making the cotton art bright and dazzling in colors that will never fade.
