Initiated by curator and art critic Na Risong in 2015, the Country Road Chinese Ethnic Group Photography Prize has been held once every two years. The prize honors professional or amateur photographers from ethnic groups who have shown his or her hometown through photos well.
It has awarded prizes to more than 70 photographers from over 30 ethnic groups in China. In the recent fourth series of prizes, 20 photographers, like Zhong Mingxi from the Lahu ethnic group, Dzyupa from the Tibetan ethnic group and Yi Hui from the Hui ethnic group, were honored.
"More and more young people, especially women, are attending the selection, and photographers shift their attention from recording ethnic groups' traditions to their current situations," Na said.
