Wuzhen Theater Festival calls for entries from aspiring artists

The eighth Wuzhen Theater Festival, which will take place from Oct 15 to 24, is calling for entries for its Emerging Theater Artists Competition and outdoor carnival.

This year's festival is themed as "flourish", with the wish that theater arts will continue to flourish and more talented theatrical practitioners will emerge.

Both the Emerging Theater Artists Competition and the outdoor carnival are recurring features of the festival. The competition aims to provide a platform for young and aspiring theater talent to showcase their works and performances.

On May 18, the organizing committee announced that for this year's competition, the contestants should create a stage performance of no more than 30 minutes based on the three elements of "tree, bread and the past".

Until Aug 8, anyone interested can apply on the festival's official website and the shortlist of 18 works will be announced on Sept 1.

Theater troupes, artists and performers can also apply on the website to enter the outdoor carnival section, and showcase their performances in drama, installation art, music, dance or other art forms in the water town of Wuzhen, Zhejiang province, during the festival.
