Five concerts will be held at the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing from May 1 to 5, offering audiences a diverse range of shows such as Peking Opera, classical music and traditional Chinese folk music.
On May 1, Peking Opera performers of Jingju Theater Company of Beijing will perform contemporary Peking Opera pieces, such as The Red Lantern, Shajiabang, and The Taking of Tiger Mountain. Peking Opera, or jingju, has a history of more than 200 years and combines art forms, such as singing, dancing and martial arts. Veteran Peking Opera performers, including Chi Xiaoqiu, Du Zhenjie and Li Hongtu, will be featured in the show.
