Aksu prefecture is located in the southwestern part of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, which was a major town along the ancient Silk Road. The Tuomuer Peak, at an altitude of 7,443.8 meters, known as the highest peak of the Tianshan Mountains, overlooks the city.
Hundreds of glaciers nourish the soil of Aksu, turning it into a beautiful and flourishing oasis. It has world heritage sites such as the Kizil Grottoes, Kizilgaha Beacon Tower and Subashi Buddhist Temple Ruins, and is also a paradise for extreme sports lovers.
