Liu Haisu, one of the greatest artists of 20th-century China, produced a stunning body of work depicting the varying landscapes of Huangshan Mountain in East China's Anhui province.
Between 1918 and 1988, Liu paid 10 visits to Huangshan, one of five famed mountains in China that offer breathtaking views. He fell deeply in love with the mountain and painted its scenes, and some of these paintings have become monumental works of Chinese art history. The series enjoys prominence in both his career and modern Chinese art.
