Midway

Midway, a new Hollywood war epic focusing on the Battle of the Midway, a clash between the American fleet and the Japanese navy that marked a key turning point during the WWII, has taken the Chinese theatres by storm since its release on Nov 8.

Helmed by Roland Emmerich, director of a bevy of classics such as Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow, the American film based on real-life events, has scored 7.7 out of 10 on Chinese film review website Douban and won rave reviews for its convulsive visual effects and its warts-and-all portrayal of the enemies.
