Focus on China, an annual event to exchange cinematic culture, will be held during the upcoming 75th Venice International Film Festival.

Inaugurated in 2016, it marks the third consecutive year that Chinese and Italian filmmakers will discuss prospective cooperation in the film and television industries.

Jointly hosted by the Italian Film Audiovisual and Multimedia Industries Association, Italy's top movie regulator, the Venice film festival's organizers and several Chinese partners, including Movie Review magazine, Xinhuanet and China Film Coproduction Corporation, the event will be held between Aug 30 and Sept 1.

Actress Joan Chen, known for her role in Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci's Oscar-winning The Last Emperor, and veteran actor Zhao Lixin, are named as the promotion ambassadors of Focus China.

The 75th Venice film festival — one of the world's most prestigious movie events — will take place at Venice Lido between Aug 29 and Sept 8.

The Road Not Taken, winner of Best Picture at this year's Shanghai International Film Festival's Asian New Talent Award, will be screened during Focus on China.
