The 1966 filmMist of Rainywas adapted from the novel of the same name by Chiung Yao. It features a love triangle with two daughters of a warlord who are both in love with the same man. The book has been adaptated several times, including the 2001 TV seriesRomance in the Rain, starring Zhao Wei.

Kuei Ya-Lei played the protagonist Lu Yiping in the film and won the best actress award at the 4th Golden Horse Award. Born in 1944, Kuei Ya-Lei has become a veteran actress, playing many impressive screen roles.
