Russian artist's exhibition kicks off at China Cultural Center in Russia

A personal exhibition by Dmitry Sandjiev, a most respected Russian artist, opened at the China Cultural Center in Moscow, Russia on March 31. Chinese Ambassador to Russia Li Hui, president of the Surikof Institute of Fine Art Anatoli Bichukov, chief academic secretary of the Russian Academy of Arts’presidium Oleg Koshkin made speeches during the opening ceremony.

Guests attending the opening included the Mongolian and Romanian ambassadors to Russia, Russian Foreign Ministry officials and artists from the Russian Academy of Arts. The exhibition featuring 38 works that show the spirituality and creativity of Sandjiev’s paintings.

One highlight of the exhibition is a series of the artist’s works with the theme China that were displayed for first time, including those featuring the Great Wall and the Forbidden City.

Sandjiev’s artworks incline toward the realistic manner of painting in its various forms. His dynamic drawings possess a powerful energy that draws the viewer into an imaginary world.

Sandjiev has taken part in over 100 exhibitions in Russia, Europe, China, Australia and the United States. His works have been collected by several major museums, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Moscow Museum of Oriental Arts and the Moscow Tretyakov Gallery.
