To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Tunisia, the Sino-Arab Silk Road trip “Chinese Culture Week” is being held Aug 8 to 14 by the Chinese Ministry of Culture. The symphony concert by the China National Opera House, the Muqam performance by the Xinjing Muqam Art Troup and the photo exhibition of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relationships between China and Tunisia present to the Tunisian people the charm of Chinese culture.

The Xinjiang Muqam Art Troupe presented the first performance at the Roman Theater in Carthage in Tunisia on the evening of Aug 8. The performance demonstrates China’s multi-ethnic culture, which deeply touched the audience. In addition, the troupe also performed Tunisian folk music. After the debut at the 50th Carthage International Art Festival, the Muqam troupe attended the Tunisia Jendouba International Arts Festival on Aug 10 and the Kairouan International Arts Festival on Aug 12.

The orchestra from the China National Opera House launched its first debut at the Amphitheatres of El Jem on Aug 9. They performed pieces from classical operas, including The Marriage of Figaro, Turandot, and The Lady of the Camellias. After the performance, they attended the Monastir International Arts Festival on Aug 11 and International Arts Festival of Bizerta on Aug 12.

Tunisian Culture Minister Murad Al Saqli, the governor of the Mahdia Governorate Casali, China's ambassador to Tunisia Bian Yanhua, assistant secretary of the Bureau for External Cultural Relations of Chinese Ministry of Culture Li Liyan, many diplomats stationed in Tunisia and other Tunisians from different circles all watched these performances.
