The “National Tour of the Charming Shanghai Culture” was officially launched by the Shanghai Municipal Publicity Department and Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture, Video, Film & TV on July 31.

Sixteen art troupes in Shanghai participated, covering many artistic forms such as drama and quyi (a Chinese folk art form). More than 40 excellent works focused on the theme “China Dream” will be staged for the public in 25 mainland cities, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

The Shanghai Center of Chinese Operas will organize the 27 performances in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Famous operas such as the Peking opera “Legendary Amazons”, the Shaoxing opera “A Dream of Red Mansions” and many other classics will appear on the stage.

Chen Dong, vice minister of the Shanghai Municipal Publicity Department, attended the launch ceremony.
