The Asia Arts Festival opened at the Iraq Culture Center in Sweden on Oct 11. The Cultural Department of the Chinese Embassy to Sweden presented ancient Chinese handicrafts and crafts with Chinese characteristics, including Chinese bronze ware, painted pottery, embroidery, double-faced embroidery, shadow puppets, paper-cuts, paper cut for window decorations and Chinese New Year ornaments. The exquisite crafts and their stories attracted envoys and Swedish residents and were a highlight of the exhibition.
The arts festival was jointly launched by Asian countries' embassies to Sweden and their Culture Centers. Envoys from China, Iran, Pakistan and Sri Lanka brought their representative performances, music, crafts and food to the Swedish people who love Asian culture, presenting an Asian culture feast.
A Swedish young man showed great interest in Chinese culture and said that he was learning Mandarin on his own and wished to study in China in the future.
Zheng Guojin, cultural counselor of the Chinese Embassy to Sweden, said to a Swedish reporter that these exhibitions are only the tip of the iceberg. The Chinese Culture Center will hold an activity to celebrate Chinese Lunar New Year in February 2015. He invited people to see this highlight of Chinese culture.
