Trainees were divided into three groups and with tutors for more effective communication and interaction. After eight days of practical training, participants staged a performance at the Star Theatre.
After the workshop, three trainers praised Chinese professionals as very cooperative. They have built up extensive relations with China through this program.
Trainees greatly improved their professional skills and understanding of performance and life. The improvisational performance taught them to say “yes” to performance and life, that is to say, to try to bravely face any challenge and grasp any opportunity in both performance and daily life.
“I couldn’t expect better for the next moment than now,” said Wu Enqi of the China National Opera & Dance Drama Theatre. “Through the program, I got to know that being funny and pleasing the audience are not the purpose of improvisation performance. Every emotion performed in the show must be rooted in real daily life.”
Mao Yuqing from the Guangdong Elephant Theatre said, “It teaches me that a good performer should not try to be out of the ordinary, but to be common.”
