Mongolian folk instrument 'horse-head fiddle'

The horse-head fiddle, a Mongolian folk instrument, features a wide body with a long neck, on the top of which is carved a horse head. The instrument is mainly hand-made and one horse-head fiddle needs over 70 steps and one and half months to finish. In 2010 the crafts skills to make the horse-head fiddle was listed as Hohhot municipal cultural heritage. [Photo: China News Service / Liu Wenhua]
