The 20th International Folk Arts Festival launched its closing ceremony in Plovdiv, the second largest city in Bulgaria on Aug 8. More than 200 artists from many countries, including China and South Korea, changed this famous ancient city into a folk art paradise within a week's time. The closing ceremony on Aug 8 was a feast of folk arts, and 8,000 people in the audience at the amphitheater showed their delighted appreciation of the Peking Opera. The Monkey King Fights the Arhats presented by Shanghai Jingju Company brought the show to a climax with its unique style. This was the first time that Peking Opera visited with the Bulgarian people.

Chinese Embassy Cultural Attache in Bulgaria Yin Yali came to watch the show and met with the performers and staff of the Shanghai Jingju Company.

The Plovdiv International Folk Arts Festival is the most influential folk arts festival in Bulgaria, which is a week-long event held each year in early August.
