The drama Wild Zebra made its debut at Tsinghua University in January, 2015. As an integral part of Sino-British cultural exchange project, the dance drama was performed at the Edinburgh International Festival, which earned it reputation as one of the world's greatest celebrations of the arts, in July that year.
“To our school, Wild Zebra is more than a children-oriented drama. Instead, it is the presentation of educational ideas in the art stage. A kind person should love peace and hold a positive attitude towards life is what we want to teach students through the drama,” said Yang Gang, principal of Zhongguancun No.2 Primary School.
“Meanwhile, the drama has been performed by our students each year. Today, it marks the fourth time for our students to show the amazing fairytale drama to audiences. To some degree, it has become a symbol of our school culture,” Yang added.
The drama director Zhang Jigang said that the dance drama not only offer students the chance to show off their art talents to others, but tough their minds.
“They have rehearsed the drama for over three months and they encounter difficulties from time to time. But most of them have risen to the challenges and managed to tackle them, which is an invaluable experience in their growth.”
