Students in Wellington learn dragon, lion dances

"The lion dance is a classic traditional Chinese folk art that has a history of over 1,000 years. It is usually performed during the Lantern Festival and other important celebrations and occasions to bring people good luck and fortune," Zhang said to the students.

Lin has been in the profession of dragon and lion dances for over 30 years. In the past 10 years, he has been committed to cultivating young people who are in interested in these two traditional dances. In the class, he mainly introduced the historical background of the dragon dance, a Chinese folk custom to pray for peace and a good harvest.
