The Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing has kicked off its Spring Festival season with a series of cultural activities since the start of February, including dance performances, movies, talks and exhibitions.
Among them is director Zhao Liang's latest production Martial Arts in Dance: Wushu, which mixes modern dance with China's martial arts. The show features tai chi, cha quan (a type of traditional boxing) and lots of weapons, such as swords, rods and spears.
Besides, there is Brush and Strings, which features Japanese calligraphers and musicians who present calligraphy art as a kind of visual and vocal performance.
Other events include the screening of a documentary film featuring gunpowder artist Cai Guoqiang and talks by artists.
