Chinese art master Qi Baishi's collection of paintings titled Twelve Landscape Screens fetched 931.5 million yuan ($144 million) at Poly Auction on Sunday night, becoming the most expensive Chinese artwork to be sold at auctions anywhere in the world.

Art pieces of Qi Baishi (1864-1957) almost never fail people's expectations at auctions. Previously four paintings of Qi were sold for more than 100 million yuan. Let’s take a look at them.

Towering Pine and Cypress Painting with Four-Character-Line Couplet in Seal Script created by Qi Baishi in 1945 was sold for 425.5 million yuan at China Guardian Auctions in May 2011. [Photo/cguardian.com]
