Loving Vincent, a much-anticipated film for Van Gogh fans, has won many audiences' hearts since its premier in China Dec 8. It is a biographical animated film about the life of the great painter Vincent van Gogh.
The film is composed of around 65,000 paintings created by 125 artists worldwide in more than six years. Many of the scenes are based on more than 100 paintings by Van Gogh and each second displays 12 pictures. It features the world's first fully oil painted feature film.
Based on the 800 letters of Van Gogh before his death, the film commemorates the 125th anniversary of Van Gogh's birth.
It scored 8.7 out of 10 points on Douban, China's major film and TV rating website. The film's box office revenue crossed 38.5 million yuan as of morning of Dec 13, according to Maoyan, a major film database in China.
Besides, the film won the Golden Goblet Award at the 20th Shanghai International film Festival.
