An exhibition featuring the artistic achievements of two Eastern European sculptors will get underway in Beijing on Oct 20, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Belarus.

The exhibit will showcase 53 pieces of works from Sergei Ivanovich Selikhanov as well as 92 pieces from Konstantin Selikhanov.

Sergei Ivanovich Selikhanov, a sculptor of the former Soviet republics, visited China as a foreign expert in 1956. This exhibition will present his sculptures of China's artists including painter Qi Baishi, director Cao Tang and novelist Ba Jin, as well as his oil paintings of Chinese landscape during the 1950s.

Konstantin Selikhanov, just like his grandfather Sergei Selikhanov, is a sculptor based in Belarus. He is known for his innovative approach of various sculpture materials.

Some of the works on show come from the National Gallery of Belarus, V.K. Vitold Byalynitsky-Birulya Museum and Belarus National Archives of Literature and Art.

The exhibition, sponsored by the National Art Museum of China, is one of series events it holds to enhance cultural and artistic ties between China and Belarus.
