Many artists today create works on tablets for convenience, such as celebrated British artist David Hockney who draws using an iPad.
Beijing-based artist Sun Rongfang is now showing 38 paintings of her iPad art at the Ici Labas gallery in the capital's 798 art district.
The exhibition, titled From Horizon to Lake Inside, which runs through Sept 17, provides a glimpse of how technology is reshaping an artist' creative process.
"The iPad becomes a moving studio, allowing me to create anytime, anywhere," says Sun.
"To a great extent, the tablet has released me from the limitations of traditional painting — and the need to carry paper, canvases, pigments and brushes — and so I can focus more on thinking and quickly recording my emotions."
The paintings were done by Sun as she traveled around the world.
Sun, who lives in a hutong, travels for several months a year.
