World Music Day was launched in 1982 by Jack Lang, then French culture minister, to promote live concerts. It's now celebrated in many countries during the summer solstice.
In 2016, the festival attracted nearly four million people on-and-offline in China. This year, in addition to live streaming, the shows will also be recorded with VR technology.
The 2017 World Music Day will be celebrated in 10 Chinese cities including Shanghai, Ningbo, Chengdu, Wuhan and Chongqing.
