When I turned 14, I found a strange booklet in my mother’s book shelf, that she called “Mao’s bible”. I did not understand it then, but started to read translations of Chinese poetry and philosophy, and learned about the teachings of Confucius. – Today, I become thoughtful when I look at the statue of Confucius in the nearby Chinese Garden.
