The 3rd International Culture Industries Conference and the 7th Gansu Culture Expo kicked off on Oct 9 in Lanzhou city, Gansu province. Wang Sanyun, secretary of CPC Gansu Provincial Party Committee, Liu Weiping, governor of Gansu province, Ding Wei, vice minister of the Ministry of Culture of China, Zheng Xiongwei, global executive chairman of Asia-Pacific CEO Association (APCEO), state leaders, government officials of culture departments along the Silk Road and 500 representatives attended the opening ceremony.

Liu Weiping delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. He stressed that this event is to response to the conception of the construction of Silk Road Economic Belt put forward by Chinese president Xi Jinping, aiming at further strengthening the ties among countries along the Silk Road and enriching the cultural connotation of the construction of the economic belt.

The theme of the three day conference is “The Cultural Cooperation and Development among Countries along the Silk Road”. It consists of many activities, including government meetings between officials and guests, Dunhuang forum and sub-forums, a cultural salon and a releasing and signing ceremony for key cultural industry projects. The Culture Expo has a key exhibition hall, a trading zone and three branch halls showing the characteristic cultures and customs and figures of countries along the Silk Road.

This cultural expo is jointly hosted by the Ministry of Culture of China, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Gansu Provincial Government of China, Propaganda Department of CPC Gansu Provincial Party Committee, APCEO and Press and Public Bureau of Gansu Province.
