China-ASEAN Education Week opens in Guizhou

The 11th China-ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations ) Education Cooperation Week opened in Gui’an New Area, Southwest China’s Guizhou province on July 26, marking a new beginning for education cooperation and cultural exchange.
A big data platform for international cooperation between countries and regions trading in the ASEAN bloc and countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative was launched at the opening ceremony. The China-ASEAN College of Humanities of Guizhou Minzu University and the Global E-Commerce Talent Network also were launched at the event.
The education week aims at providing a chance for educational and cultural exchanges and enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between China and Southeast Asia.

Since the first China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week took place in 2008, the event has attracted 2,717 colleges and education organizations, and witnessed 1,088 agreements signed through the platform.
This year’s event attracted over 2,000 guests from China, Russia, Switzerland and ASEAN countries to share experiences and build sustainable regional development and peace through education.
“China and ASEAN countries should constantly deepen cooperation to realize the target of exchanging 300,000 students in 2025,” Tian Xuejun, deputy minister of education, said.
The four-day event was hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education and the Guizhou Provincial People’s Government.
