A joint performance by China and ASEAN teenagers from the China-ASEAN Youth Cultural Exchange Festival was held in the city of Kuching, Malaysia on July 18.

Nearly 50 campers from China and Malaysia performed various dances, including a Southeast Asian-style bamboo dance, poetry recitation, singing and dancing.

The cultural exchange camp was supported by the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports, and provided a chance for the campers to visit the Sarawak culture village, local history museum, and other outdoor activities.

“Sarawak has excellent natural conditions and a friendly government. The local people are enthusiastic, the culture is diversified, and different ethnic groups are in harmony. These are all important foundations for the development of tourism. We hoped that through this exchange activity, China and Sarawak will further promote exchanges and cooperation in tourism, culture and other fields, enhance mutual understanding, and create new growth points for China-Malaysia comprehensive and pragmatic cooperation,” said Cheng Guangzhong, Chinese consulate-general in Kuching.
