The nine-day ASEAN+3 youth cultural camp ended at the Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University in Thailand on Feb 28, 2017. More than 100 students and teachers from 11 ASEAN countries or their surrounding areas participated, including the representative team from China and the Confucius Institute at Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University.
This was the first time China and the northeast Asia region were invited to the camp. The Chinese team comprised students and teachers from Tianjin Normal University. The Confucius Institute at Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University and the Chinese team held a series of cultural events, including the opening day of Confucius Institute, a Chinese culture exhibition, Chinese painting lecture, Chinese talent show and Chinese costume show.
The Chinese elements wowed all the participants, including some who were new to Chinese culture.
"This is my first experience of Chinese culture," said a student from the National University of Laos. "The lion dancing is so amazing that I would like to learn it!"
According to Wen Xiangyu, dean of the Confucius Institute at the Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University, "ASEAN and China have much more in common. We held many events with the aim to promote Chinese culture to people all over the world."
