The China-ASEAN Youth Cultural Exchange Festival began with a ceremony in Xi’an to greet young people from China and ASEAN countries on August 7.

Now in its fourth year, the event brought over 160 students together. Wen Tingyi from Dongwan, Guangdong province, said she was impressed by the ceremony, and that when walking on the ancient wall, she felt as if she was walking into the past. A Malaysian teacher was surprised by the grand ceremony, saying that his students would enjoy visiting this city again when possible.

The event, which lasts three days, includes a visit to the Shaanxi Historical Museum, the Famen Temple and the Terracotta Army. In addition, programs featuring traditional Chinese handicrafts, martial arts, music and dance will be organized at the Xi’an Youth Center.
