Lion dance performance is a common sight in Malaysia during the Chinese New Year to bring festive cheer to all with jaw-dropping acrobatic moves and deafening drum beats and clanging of cymbals. Here, excited shoppers at Mid Valley Megamall, a shopping complex in Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur, gave the performers "ang pao" (red packets) through the lion's "mouth" after an energetic performance on the first day of Chinese New Year. Curious kids also rushed forward to pat the lions. [Photo by Tho Xin Yi]
