Recently, I had the chance to visit one of the most touristic places in China - Guilin. This scenic city is a picturesque place with stunning hills which have even been inked onto the 20 yuan bill.

First, I would say the atmosphere was fantastic. The Li River runs through the city and to Yangshuo. We actually took a ferry ride down the river to Yangshuo to enjoy the hills along the river and fresh, crisp air. In the city, it is a much more manageable place than Beijing and actually feels like you could fully explore it. The water was much cleaner and being by the lake was just a nice feeling.

Also, the rice terraces were one of a kind. I had never seen anything like that although it did remind me of the farming community of Cinque Terre.
