To celebrate the 40th anniversary of China-Brazil diplomatic relations, the Ministry of Culture sent the Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra to Brazil while President Xi Jinping attended the 6th BRICS Leaders Meeting and paid a state visit to Brazil. The orchestra gave successful concerts in Fortaleza and Brasilia.

On July 17, a special concert celebrating “the 40th anniversary of China-Brazil diplomatic relations” was held in Brasilia Xi, Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff and other Latin American leaders watched the performance led by the Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra. After the show, Xi told Rousseff that it was a wonderful performance. It brought to an end this state visit and meeting.

The orchestra’s trip to Brazil was the most important program included in “China Contemporanea”, a brand proposed by the Ministry of Culture for the culture exchange. It was highly valued by the ministry and supported by the government of Zhejiang province throughout the visit.
