White glazed porcelain has a long history in China. It started in the Southern and Northern dynasties, and evolved to maturity during the Sui Dynasty. Great strides were made during the Tang Dynasty to raise the degree of white to 70 percent achieving a basis for the birth of underglaze-color and overglaze-color porcelain.
