Porcelain during the Yongzheng period is considered the very best of quality in the Qing Dynasty, and lemon yellow glazed porcelain is considered the most honorable wares during the Yongzheng period. The yellow glazed porcelain originated in the Ming Dynasty, when every kind of yellow ware was exclusive to the imperial household. The ancient Chinese imperial family believed in yellow since yellow represented the “ground”, which could emphasize the power of the emperor. Therefore, there are few Ming and Qing yellow glazed porcelain wares remaining today.
