Macau has just been selected as one of the top 10 regions for travel in 2015 in Lonely Planet's Best in Travel 2015 annual publication. The world's largest travel guide publisher highlighted Macau's Portuguese heritage, its unique fusion cuisine and various attractions.

Lonely Planet says that: "Its Portuguese heritage has created a fusion cuisine that combines European, African, Indian and Chinese elements. Where else can you make an incense offering at an ancient Chinese Buddhist temple, take the world's highest bungee jump, have a Michelin-star meal and a street food midnight snack?"

The number of tourist visits to Macao from the Chinese mainland reached 18 million in 2013, compared with 1.6 million in 1999, accounting for over 60 percent of the total number of tourists to Macao.
