Echo of System: Sui Jianguo 1997-2019
Sui Jianguo is a veteran Chinese sculptor known for creating artworks borrowing symbols associated with Chairman Mao, represented by his Mantel Legacy series.
Echo of System: Sui Jianguo 1997-2019, a grand retrospective solo exhibition dedicated to the artist is now on view at the Minsheng Art Museum in Beijing.
On show are 200-odd sculptures, installations, videos and manuals that Sui has created since 1997, guiding viewers through the guru's artistic trajectory characterized by idealism, confusion as well as bold exploration.
Sui is critically acclaimed as the trailblazer who has pushed the farthest in conceptual and philosophical art on the mainland.
The show runs until Nov 1.
