Erlich exposes the ego of perception and fragility of conviction, fracturing preconceptions through a prism of expectation he reimagines through art. His works subvert normality while encouraging us to question what normal actually is — if something appears unfamiliar, that doesn't necessarily make it wrong; rather, it makes it different, a challenge to finite thinking.
Inspired by everyday life and the shared human experience, his work features extensive use of expressive approaches to confront viewers with their conceptual limits.
Occupying the entire display space of the CAFA Art Museum, the show consists of installations, sculptures, objects and videos. In addition, some of them, like the giant optical illusion installation Building, have been recreated featuring distinct elements of Chinatown in New York.
