The annual Chingay Parade is held to celebrate the Chinese New Year in Singapore. It started with the very first street parade in 1973. Since then, this national event has grown to be the largest street performance and float parade in Asia. From the main parade site to the heartlands, this street extravaganza epitomizes the dynamism of Singapore’s vibrant and multi-cultural society. This year the parade route has extended to the nearby River Hongbao Festival making a grand finale to the colourful event. [Photo by Wong Chek Poh]
