Photo taken on Jan 11, 2017 shows crocodile bone plates excavated at the Haojing ruins in Xi'an city, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province. The discovery of 12 crocodile bone plates has spurred speculation that southern Xi'an was once dotted with lakes and lush with plants. The Shanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology disclosed its major findings in 2016, including the crocodile bone plates. Haojing was one of two settlements where the Western Zhou Dynasty (1046–771 BC) was founded. Excavation at the site started in the 1930s. [Photo/hsw.cn]
