The overhaul, which took a year and a half to complete, was guided by the the preservationist principle of "repairing the old to its old appearance". So the goal was to restore the museum to its original appearance.
The tenets of the China Kunqu Opera Museum are to repair, protect, inherit and promote the ancient Kunqu art, which are completed through the various forms of exhibition, performances and research,as well as other promotional activities.
