"They (15 nominated films) are professionally produced and shed lights on the diversity of our world," said Brett Ratner, chair of the jury committee, “after deep consideration, debate and careful selection, I am fully convinced that all the announced winners deserved the honors. ”
A slew of stars from both home and abroad attended the closing ceremony, including director Anthony LaMolinara, French actor David Belle, Canadian actress Kendall Cross, singer Joey Yung, actor Liao Fan, Peter Ho, Woo-bin Kim, Chiu Man-Cheuk, actress Athena Chu, Xu Fan, and Bai Baihe.
This year’s Beijing International Film Festival stood out for its unprecedented vitality, inclusiveness and vigorous growth. More than 300 film institutions from 50 countries and around 15,000 guests and representatives from across the globe attended the event. Some $2.5 billion contracts were signed, an increase of 18 percent compared with last year. And the box-office collections reached more than $1.538 million for the 500 film works shown during the one-week festival, more than double the tickle sales year on year.
"I totally believe that the Beijing Film Festival will grow in the future," Brett Ratner said.
