Travel and Accommodation Tips

1. Mianshan Mountain is easily reachable via public transport. There are shuttle buses between the provincial capital Taiyuan and Mianshan Mountain. The distance is 160 kilometers (approx. 2 hours travel time). Alternatively, visitors can take a bullet train to Jiexiu East Station and then a bus to the scenic area.

2. Admission is RMB 110 per person (including RMB 50 for the tourist bus ticket, with which visitors can hop on and off the bus at any scenic spot). For car drivers, a parking fee of RMB 50 is charged for every vehicle.

3. There are seven hotels inside the scenic area, with the most unique experience at Yunfeng Shuyuan Hotel, China's only hotel built into a cliff face. Guests can enjoy the view of valley as if they were standing on the cliff. The four-star hotel has 105 guestrooms, and the price of a standard room is about RMB 400 at peak times and about RMB 200 off peak.
